Members of the club, aided by some willing and able helpers, refurbished the ‘engine room’ at the Matei airport. It seems to some that this is a little outside the normal scope of a Rotary club but there is a good reason. The economy of the island is very dependent on visits from international guests. Perhaps the first thing they see as they disembark at our tiny terminal is the room housing the generator. The project gave members and their friends the opportunity for a ‘hands-on’ application and the result is stunning. The job started on June 13th 2019 and was completed on June 27th. 2019. Well done to all!
This might take a while to complete. The old painted surfaces were in a poor state of repair.
